Ozo Innovations to support PepsiCo Labs in decarbonising its supply chain

Ozo Innovations has been selected by PepsiCo to support the company advance its ambitious sustainability goals.  The pilot will see eloclearTM, a combined cleaner and disinfectant, trialled in PepsiCo’s Carregado manufacturing plant in Portugal.

Mark Poole, CEO of Ozo Innovations Ltd, said “We are proud to be partnering with PepsiCo and are excited to be working with the team in Portugal to pilot the sustainability benefits that deploying eloclear can successfully deliver and we hope it will set the standard for sustainable cleaning practices globally.”

Produced solely from cold water and food grade salt using in-situ electrochemical generators, eloclear can simplify the food hygiene process, reducing water consumption. Crucially, it is effective at an ambient temperature, removing the need for hot water, thereby reducing energy consumption.

The eloclear will be generated on site using an elocube. In-situ manufacturing helps de-risk the chemical supply chain, reduces reliance on single use plastics and ensures that no non-biodegradable chemicals are released into the environment.

The pilot aims to demonstrate how eloclear deployment can significantly reduce water, energy and chemical consumption in PepsiCo’s  food cleaning and hygiene process.

In its latest report released earlier this year,  The Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) stated an urgent need for ‘immediate and deep emissions reductions’ across all sectors, with improved energy efficiency highlighted as a critical factor if we are to achieve net zero by 2050. Ozo Innovations aligns itself with four of the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals – Goal 2: Zero hunger, Goal 3: Good health and wellbeing, Goal 6: Clean water and sanitation and Goal 12: Responsible consumption and production.
