Anthony James

Anthony joined Wheatsheaf (a member of the Grosvenor Estate) in 2013 as Chief Investment Officer, becoming Chief Operating Officer in 2017 with responsibility for the Investment and Finance functions. Anthony has assembled and managed an investment team focussed on building businesses targeting enhanced efficiency of food production and agriculture. Since being founded in 2012, Wheatsheaf has completed direct investments into over 20 businesses across multiple geographies ranging from starts ups, through to growth opportunities and more mature businesses.

Prior to Wheatsheaf, Anthony was Group Corporate Finance Director at Grosvenor Group Limited (a member of the Grosvenor Estate) a privately owned international urban property group with assets under management exceeding £12Bn.

Previous roles include:

  • Head of Energy & Natural Resources M&A at KPMG Corporate Finance where Anthony built a specialist team and led a wide range of acquisition, disposal and other strategic advisory assignments across the sector.
  • Senior finance and corporate development positions at Philips Electronics, both in the Netherlands and China.

Anthony has an Applied Physics and Electronics degree from Nottingham University and has completed a KPMG sponsored Executive MBA programme. He qualified as a Chartered Accountant with KPMG and is a member of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of England & Wales.
