- Role Profile
We are looking to appoint an engineer in the field of Electrical Design & Controls system engineering.
The successful applicant will be the lead for all Electrical Design & Control systems engineering in the Ozo Innovations Engineering team. You will be responsible for the electrical design elements of our internally designed and built production systems and deliver the Control system required to run our systems. We already have several systems that utilise Schneider programming, you will be responsible for ensuring these system PLC’s run efficiently at our customer sites along with designing future control systems.
The role will be based two days a week in our Kidlington office and 3 days a week working from home. System installations and customer support activities will require working from customers sites at times in the UK & Europe. We work a 37.5hr week.
- Essential Requirements
Degree /HND in electrical engineering, electrical Design, Automation, Control Systems, electronics, OR relevant engineering discipline along with Time served / Apprenticeship.
- Key Responsibilities
- Lead Electrical Design & Control systems engineering for the Ozo Innovations product development engineering team.
- Working within a small, specialised engineering team developing and specifying new innovative products to customer requirements.
- Continue with the PLC strategy in place for Ozo Products working alongside the Engineering team and the customer.
- Produce electrical operational documentation & Control systems data when required.
- Helping assess safety and environmental issues associated with the systems you are delivering.
- Helping assess compliance with relevant industrial standards for this field of Engineering.
- Investigating and troubleshooting electrical & control system issues.
- Work with suppliers and contractors in the delivery of our products.
- Work to engineering deadlines and contribute to overall team objectives success.
- Support the creation of a design validation plan for the electrical content of our products.

- Knowledge, skills & experience
- Electrical Design background involved in developing hardware for machines, cabinet layout, safety, protection & compliance calculations, creation of 2D electrical drawings to allow electrical panel build.
- Proficient in PLC Programming, CODESYS programming knowledge is critical (Ladder Diagrams, FBD Functional Block Diagram languages and ST Structured Text).
- Knowledge and user of Schneider Machine Expert (What we use).
- Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC, Electrical Equipment (Safety) Regulations 2016 (2014/35/EU) knowledge
- Knowledge of industrial communication protocols e.g. Ethernet/IP, Modbus.
- Collaborative team-work approach —Not afraid to get your message across.
- Able to communicate complex electrical engineering issues and present efficiently.
- Good standard of technical writing and presentation of results.
- A good practical level of electrical engineering will be useful for this role as there is opportunity to support electrical cabinet builds and assess for test & sign-off.
- Desirable
- Knowledge of network communication protocols e.g., MQTT.
- SolidWorks 2D schematic & 3D modelling electrical experience.
- Knowledge of automated manufacturing / special purpose machinery.
- Knowledge of functional design specification creation.
- P&ID interpretation and knowledge.
Risk Assessment and Haz Ops experience.
